Girls Match-up
Newton has been missing key pieces to its roster from the start of the season.  2024 Sanaa Tripp is out for the season with a knee injury after being special for the start of the season.  Grayson is loaded with new faces and old, looking to capture a region and state title this season. Charleston Southern University commit 2022 Catherine Alben will look to go in her bag often in this one.  Newton will need to be on their A-game to have any chance of staying with Grayson.  2022 Ashleigh Norris is back in action for Newton County.  She’s coming off a knee injury that’s sidelined her for the first part of the season.  If she can put the team on her back along with 2024 Tre’Miyah Berry and the supporting cast, Newton might have a chance.
The Pick:  Grayson

Boys Match-UP
Newton still holds the #1 Ranking in the Peach State even after a tough 2-loss outing during the Hardwood Classic hosted by The Sports 4 Champions (took L’s to Pebblebrook & Cumberland Christian). Newton was missing 4 of their key players due to disciplinary reasons/injury.  If Newton has all of its pieces in place, it’s gonna be a very tough out for opposing teams.  Newton has three D1, high-major 2023 recruits on their team.  Both teams are looking for some bragging rights and region standings positioning in tonight’s match-up.
Clemson commit Chauncey Wiggins and North Carolina A&T commit Tyrese Elliot who have punched their tickets for Grayson, will be out for ‘Road Kill’ tonight.  This one might come down to a few lose balls or who plays the hardest for 32 minutes.  Newton will be super tough with the 6-man crowd behind them and home court advantage.  Look for 2023 Jakai Newton to continue his stellar play, 2023 6’6 Big Guard U Stephon Castle to be the ultimate leader in the court, and 6’4 G Georgia commit Qua Brown to provide support from all areas of the court.
The Pick:  Newton
