Explosive as can be, 2023 Jakai Newton showed his value during the RYZE LIVE SHOWCASE played on May 8-9, 2021, at Lakepoint Sports in Emerson, GA. The kid is a stud in the making (if not already) showing the ability to penetrate off the dribble and finish with finesse, power, and swag. He has range beyond the 3pt arc but can also hit mid-range shots that completes his offensive arsenal. He’s beginning to become a dog on defense as well, taking no prisoners and protecting the paint – showing a willingness to sit and slide – when others take plays off. Developing that killer instinct is a must, as he continues to take his game to the next level. At 6’3, he plays above the rim with an NBA-ready body. Two skill-sets we look for in high major PG’s. Take what’s yours Jakai – whether the table is being set or not – and continue to stay humble and in the lab. With two more years on the table to perfect his craft, this young hooper will be a high major selection when it’s all said and done. If not, he will fly under the radar and prove everyone wrong by continuing to play at a high level and reach star status at the end of the day.
