Eagles Landing survived a true test at home, coming away with the 51-42 dub over scrappy cross-town rival Dutchtown on Saturday, January 14, 2023. It was a standing room only crowd as both teams traded buckets (and hard fouls) during the first three quarters. The Eagles eventually showed its muscle down the stretch, getting solid minutes from Dutchtown transfer 2024 6’3 SF Chris Morris. 2023 David Thomas (Mercer commit) was held in check for the most part, which allowed his teammates to pick up the slack. Now knowing they can step up and win if their star player is having an off night. 1st year head coach Wallace Corker of Dutchtown showed why he’s one of the premier coaches in Georgia, bringing toughness and discipline to Dutchtown. They were able to keep this one very close, causing us to bring out our toe-nail clippers.
