2024 SG TRE’MIYAH BERRY HAS FOUND A NEW HOME AT ROCKDALE COUNTY HS
It’s that old cliche fam’ about the grass being greener. With regards to hoops, players nowadays have the opportunity to test the waters if they feel as though the current situation just doesn’t feel right. After playing her freshman and sophomore seasons at Newton High, Newton’s long time coach retired. Bringing in a new coach and young pieces surrounding her while facing a rebuilding year or two, Tre’Miyah seized on the perfect opportunity to jump ship, heading over to crosstown rival Rockdale County, who gives her the opportunity to compete as well as shine. With the back-court running mate of 2024 ESPN Gurlz ranked Danielle Carnegie running the point, it allows Tre’ to become great at what she does: shooting the rock. So far so good as Rockdale has jumped out to an early 3-0 record. Tre’miyah has looked good in her skin, coming in with good chemistry and a passion for winning. Under the H20 AAU unit this summer, she was able to get a feel for what high level AAU ball feels like by being able to play valuable minutes on the circuit while learning from her mistakes. She looks more leaner and much more in shape for the Bulldogs, which is a key component for success on the girls HS Hoops circuit. It didn’t take long for Tre’ to make a name for herself.
On Tuesday (11/21) against Union Grove, she knocked down 5 straight 3pt shots. Rockdale was able to weather the storm and come away with the win down the stretch against a pesky UG squad (58-53). We’ve question most transfer moves in the past but this one seems like a no-brainer. Keep hoopin’ and good luck to Rockdale as they continue to find their niche this season. Searching for that elusive State Title.
