Big Guard U. Stephon Castle impressive during RYZE Hoops Live Showcase
The game is getting longer. Players who once pushed the rock at 6’0 are now seeing 6’5 hoopers (and above) do the same. It used to be that bigs would exclusively play down low, being reluctant to handle the rock. That’s not the case anymore as teams (and the game itself) require everyone to be ball handlers, make solid decisions, and be creative play-makers off the dribble. 2023 Stephon Castle at 6’5 is a combo guard who currently holds offers from Auburn, Miami, and Ohio, per 247Sports. They have him slated as a 4-Star prospect for his class. Stephon showed his commitment to his craft during the RYZE Hoops Live Showcase on May 8-9, 2021 in Emerson, GA. With his size, he was able to bullyball his way for layups, knock down open shots from all three levels, and drop dimes to his teammates. A solid outing for the young hooper. We would like for him to continue to become a master ball handler, develop his change of pace, become a force on the defensive end of the court, and continue to master his touch from mid-range and beyond. The Newton Rams got some serious pieces family. Playing together for the ATL Xpress this summer will only build chemistry and togetherness. Ingredients needed to chase the ‘chip next season on the GHSA hoops circuit.
