The game is getting longer.  6’9 hoopers are now pushing the rock and running the show when once upon a time, it was only 5’9 players (so to speak) who were allowed to pursue those avenues.  6’6 Stephon Castle runs the PG for Newton High School who finished the season 21-4 and going 8-0 in region play.  Their first undefeated season in Region play in 12 years.  Credit a lot of that to 6’6 Stephon Castle who has committed to UCONN and plays beyond his years.  He’s only a Jr. so sky’s the limit with his development and approach to the game.  His willingness to pass the rock, be unselfish, and think pass first, has really enabled Newton’s team to eat at all positions this season – developing a chemistry among their players that we haven’t seen in quite some time.  Don’t get me wrong, on any given night, this young man can put up numbers, as witnessed in their OT thriller loss to Wheeler.  Stephon went for a 30 piece and sank three free throws to send the game into OT.
