Taking a look at soldiers who stood out at the 1st annual OTRExposure Tip-Off in Houston, Texas on November 13, 2021.
Austin Benigni
5’10 PG
The Woodlands Christian
Class of 2022
Navy Commit
Solid, heady PG who’s more than capable of being a floor general at the next level because of his heart and willingness to think outside the box. Austin showed an uncanny ability to get into the paint with his handles to dish or finish with swag. From our viewpoint, no one has a lay package as good as this young man in the State of Texas. Size might be an issue but the Navy recruit can hold his own – and proved so during the OTRExposure event over the weekend.
Tyrese Elliott
6’1 CG
Class of 2022
North Carolina A&T Commit
Tyrese Elliot dropped 30 against iSchool (TX) using his superior ball handling while putting pressure on defenses to stop his offensive attack. The North Carolina A&T Commit attacks off the bounce with the best of them and enjoys getting to the bucket to finish, draw fouls, or kick to open teammates. Tyrese was a walking bucket in Houston at the OTRExposure event and will be a serious problem in the GA Hoops 7A Arena when region play begins.
Marcus Whitlock
6’2 CG
Newton High (GA)
Class of 2023
Marcus hasn’t gotten the recognition his game will demand from college suitors as of yet but the active CG from Newton High is legit. Marcus is a scorer by nature, having the skill-sets to drive and finish, quick release catch and shoot assassin, or finesse with his mid-range game. He’s super active on defense, getting into passing lanes to deflect passes or an occasional momentum changing block. With so many qualities to offer, schools will begin to recognize his grind by seasons end.
Jakai Newton
6’3 CG
Newton High (GA)
Class of 2023
Indiana Hoosier Commit
The 6’3 CG impressed with his ability to shoot the rock with accuracy, willingness to play defense, and his decision making on the court. The ceiling is high for this young man who finishes above the rim and plays locked in from start to finish. With an NBA ready body, look for Jakai to be a major game changer as he preps for Indiana this season and next.
Chauncey Wiggins
6’9 PF
Newton High (GA)
Class of 2022
Clemson Commit
Chauncey really impressed during the OTRExposure event. He was able to hit his open shots from beyond the arc, showing his stretch 4 capabilities. He also rebounded well and initiated the offense with his emerging dribbling skills and decision making in transition. He showed why he’s in the conversation. His development at Grayson over the course of the year should prove beneficial as he makes the leap to the D1 level next season.
