2023 4 Star CG Jakai Newton punched his ticket to the University of Indiana, giving new head Coach Mike Woodson reason to celebrate. The Hoosiers are getting a stud in the 6’3 CG who plays above the rim, consistent with his stroke from mid-range and beyond the arc, and shows that willingness to sit and slide on the defensive end. We see him as a true PG once he transitions to the next level. As he continues to develop his ability to blow by defenders off the dribble in the open court, there’s not a lot of holes in his game that need fixing. With more playing time running the show this year and next under Newton HC Charlemagne Gibbons, we’re looking forward to seeing this young man’s game develop into another solid guard from the State of GA.
