2024 CG Danielle Carnegie was named the 2021 GHSA Player of the Year for Region 3-AAAAAAA. She hoops for Rockdale County High and Essence Xtreme on the AAU Girls Hoops Circuit. The young hooper was impressive this year as a freshman, showing that she could take her skills from middle school to high school and not miss a beat. Danielle made the transition seamlessly, leading Rockdale in scoring as a Rook’. That’s impressive considering Rockdale went 19-4 and 10-0 in region play. They took the 61-55 L against Langston Hughes during the State Playoffs Road to the ‘Chip but Dani showed that she belongs during that game and will a serious problem during the remainder of her high school career for opposing guards who try to check her. We love what she brings to the table in terms of her leadership abilities to run the team, showing patience and a cool demeanor on the court, not to mention her ability to attack the paint, drop dimes, expose players with her mid-range game, and knockdown wet balls from distance. We all have aspects of our game we can work on but this young lady is developing all areas of her game. Putting that emphasis on the defensive side of the ball, being in tip-top shape, energy, and motor this season and beyond, she’ll be a top recruit come 2024. Congratulations Dani. Keep hoopin’ and see you on the AAU hoop circuit.
