The Dodgers got a great win yesterday, defeating the Giants of San Francisco 1-0 behind the solid pitching of Walker Buehler (7IP 5H 0ER 1BB 9SO) and the big bat of Max Muncy (3AB 2H 1R 1BB 1RBI). Muncy creamed his 13th homer in the top of the 1st to provide the only run needed for the 45-21 Dodgers, who moved an impressive 24 games over .500.
Max Muncy, who attended Vanderbilt and is in his 2nd MLB season, has a career stat line of 16-6 3.08ERA 222.0IP 241SO 1.01WHIP. The Dodgers have a gem on the mound for years to come, reminding us a little bit of Orel “Bulldog” Hershiser, who commanded the mound for the Dodgers back in the day. Hershiser put together a season for the ages in 1988. He led the Dodgers to the NL West title with a 23-8 record, including a league-best 15 complete games and eight shutouts. En route, he worked 59 straight scoreless innings – breaking the record of 58 2/3 set by former Dodgers pitcher Don Drysdale. (credit baseballhall.org)
The first place Dodgers travel to Anaheim June 10-11 for a two-game, in State matchup against the Angels. The Angels are currently 31-35, sitting 4th Place in the AL West Division.
