Marquee Match-ups

A look at a few top games today, Jan 05, 2017

Sierra Canyon vs Bishop Montgomery
830p Cerritos College
5th Annual Take Flight Challenge

It doesn’t get any bigger than this, for a regular season powerhouse ball game, pitting two true Elite ball clubs together in our own back yard.  Bishop Montgomery is known for its stifling defense and free flowing style of play. While Sierra Canyon boasts boss hogs at every position – with big name dads and relatives to back it up.  This one might come down to who’s in the best conditioning and limits the most mental mistakes.  We’ve seen guys run out of gas in big games, on the big stage, simply because there’s so much hype surrounding the contest.  FYI…Kenyon Martin Jr. is turning into a beast, so watch for him to literally imprint his will on the outcome of this game.

The Pick:
Bishop Montgomery

Crespi SR PG Brandon Williams
5 star Class of 2018 Crespi High PG Brandon Williams (Arizona Commit) is back in the saddle at Crespi. Shot callin’ and big ballin’ indeed. Popscout

Crespi vs Alemany
7pm Alemany High

Brandon Williams is back with a game face that would make any defender sit and slide.  That may spell trouble for an Alemany team that looked lack luster in their performance against Sherman Oaks Notre Dame Wednesday Jan 03, 2018, in which they came out on top 67-57, while Sherman Oaks ND was missing their top piece in 6’7 W Ziaire Williams.  6’11 C Fred Odhiambo’s presence for The Warriors inside, may bring the W their way, as well as the support from their home court crowd.  Should be rocking and rolling in Mission Hills this evening.

The Pick:

The back-court play of St. Bernard has been spot on during the first half of the season. Look for them to continue gaining momentum going into the playoffs. PopScout

Redondo Union vs St Bernard
7pm Cerritos College

St. Bernard was a few plays away from walking away with the 2017 Classic @ Damien ‘Ship.  6’9 Jr Big Man Romelle Mansel anchors the middle for a team that’s well coach, showing a balanced attack of guys who can pull the trigger and get to the rack with shake and bakes moves and euro-steps. Look for SO guard Nick Bowden to get into a zone, pulling the bow and arrow from long range for St. Bernard. We love the play of Redondo Union Senior PG Zekiah LoVett, who’s got skills on the same level as his big bro Marcus (St. Johns).  Should be a very entertaining game for two teams making a name for themselves on the 2017-18 CA Bball Hoops Circuit.

The Pick
St. Bernard
