The Inland Empire is showing that they’re not just a powerhouse in football. When it comes to round ball, they also have some legitimate talent on the hardwood floor as well. 6’8 Stretch 4 (and we do mean a stretch 4) Isaiah Mobley will be a top NBA draft pick when it’s all said and done. The kid is silky smooth with the rock – showing advanced ball handling skills, can get to the bucket off the dribble and finish – as well as spotting up for the three. The kid can rebound and go – showing the ability to push the rock in transition and set up the offense – a true release valve for his squad. The image below shows him slashing to the lane and finishing with the floater. At 6’8 with a nice frame to build upon, it’s going to be hard for opposing high school coaches to develop a game plan to stop this multi-faceted soldier boy.
PopScout doesn’t like to put any pressure on anyone because trying to live up to public expectations can be disheartening – but we do feel that this young man has the character, work ethic, family support, and skillsets to advance and make his NBA dream a reality. If rules were still in place where kids could jump to the NBA from being a senior in high school, then this kid would be on the radar of many NBA scouts.
We had a chance to sit and chat with Isaiah Mobley at the recent Pangos All FROSH SOPH camp held at Cerritos College September 24-25, 2016. The kid is special and will be a threat to any and all teams this upcoming season. Doesn’t look like this kid has run into any characters of the game (PopScout in depth focus coming soon) – who can hinder your development as a player. Strong family support indeed and a true understanding of how to play the game of basketball.
Become great at what you do.
