Picture this: You’ve just won the Open and State Division titles in the state of Cali’. Your club has tied the record in 100pts scored in games played as well as going undefeated for the season. Your big brother is an All American and now looks to leap to the NBA in a year or two. Damn…what a run! Now comes change.

Chino Hills has parted ways with Coach of the Year Steve Baik. Lonzo has officially joined the Bruins of UCLA. Can Lil bro’ Melo garner PG duties and Gelo lead his team to another undefeated season? Many feel that Chino Hills has enough gas in its tank to win it all. Considering they were a “fully hybrid” squad last year – running on electricity and needing no stops at the pump – the squad will face some steep challenges from the likes of Sierra Canyon, Bishop Montgomery, Fairfax, and Mater Dei – just to name a few.

Chino Hills will lean on the likes of Class of 2017 SF Li Angelo Ball. He will have to answer this question many times during games come crunch time: Can you put us on your back and lead us to victory? If summer was any indication, then the answer is yes. Although Gelo shut it down early to rest some nagging injuries, ESPN saw enough to raise his ratings from 70 to 79 this summer. The kid has signed with UCLA, so all he basically has to do is focus, get healthy, and ball.
We sat down with Li Angelo Ball during the 2016 Nike 30th Annual Fairfax Summer Classic to ask him a few questions about their magical past season and their upcoming quest to go back to back.
