Long Beach Poly’s athletic programs are hands down some of the best in the country. From its star-studded football team, to their ever challenging basketball teams, to their speedy track athletes – the Jackrabbits know how to coach, nurture, and retain talent. The boys basketball team will face JW North at 11am Saturday, March 19, 2016 for the DII CIF Regional State Final . The winner advances to Sleep Train Arena next week to face the winner from the Northern CA DII game, Serra vs El Cerrito. The Girls will face Chaminade, to see who will represent Southern CA next weekend, against the Open Division opponent from Northern CA. This will be the third time the two teams have met this season. Both teams coming away victorious.
Poly girls will have their hands full, again, trying to contain Chaminade’s dynamic duo in Valerie Higgins and Leaonna Odom. Both Higgins and Odom have been selected to play in the 2016 Jordan Classic – Odom is a 2016 McDonald’s All American selection as well. Look for Poly to match wits with Chaminade and lay it all on the line. For seniors, it may be the last time you lace em up. For coaches, it’s time to put your best strategy in place, look at film and tendencies of players, and develop a plan to beat your opponent. Poly is hoping the third time is a charm and they can advance to the State final game, March 26, 2016 at Sleep Train Arena. This should be a great game leading into the nap-cap between Chino Hills and Bishop Montgomery.
Take a look at a few clips from both Poly boys and girls teams. The boys are squaring off against Cathedral while the girls are facing Lakeside. PopScout thinks the boys have it locked against JW North and will come away with the easy victory – to some degree. The girls, on the other hand, will have a difficult time defeating the #2 team in the state, the Chaminade Eagles. Should be some great basketball tomorrow with many games going down to the wire.
Become great at what you do
