Power forward Cody Riley of Sierra Canyon Class of 2017 is beginning to awake. The kid has had some very nice showings this year against major national powerhouses in Nationally ranked squads including Chaminade, Montverde Academy, and Oak Hill Academy. The knock on Cody is that he plays under his potential at times and doesn’t get his motor up and running. We disagree. Not just because he is our favorite player 😉 We really like this kid and the character he shows on and off the court.

Not only do we feel that Cody is a top notch Power Forward and a lock for a McDonald’s All American slot next year, we also think that we won’t be seeing this kid in college after a year or two. We’ve been keeping a close eye on Cody the past year or so and think it’s not Cody but the competition he plays against. Sierra Canyon just doesn’t play against quality opponents who have big men to challenge Cody. We agree at times he may seem to play at a lackluster speed but for him and his spacial talents, he can take over a game at will and impose himself on the court like no other kid in Southern CA except our boy Lonzo Ball from Chino Hills. Cody Riley is special.

Sierra Canyon takes on Los Alamitos in the Open Division Playoffs – Los Al has a very crafty guard to deal with in Eyassu Worku – but with no legitimate big man to deal with Cody, Sierra Canyon should breeze by this first round game. Looking forward to Cody displaying his skill-sets and true motor in the Open Division playoffs this year to show everyone his true game. Good luck to all the teams.
